THE PITCH

Looking to premier in October of 2026, The Louisburg Project is a Lo-Fi, independent, documentary film project about a place in America called Louisburg, Kansas.

Located south of the southern-most reaches of the Kansas City metropolitan area, the town of roughly 5,000 folks finds itself in the liminal state between rural Americana and urban sprawl – Between the place it once was and the place it will become – Between the decay of the heartland and the genesis of a thoughtful exodus to the country.

The Louisburg Project is also an experiment. Film still finds itself in its infancy as an art-form, existing in earnest for a mere 150 years. Compare that to painting, where evidence of that discipline can be found in caves tens of thousands of years old. Film also carries with it a prohibitive cost of entry. The shear cost of equipment and manpower, from cameras, lenses and lights, to grips, gaffers and DPs, has proven itself a worthy gatekeeper to anyone wishing to tell a story through motion pictures.

The lock is off, the gate has swung open and the cows are headed out.

Today the technology exists at affordable price points to open the art to primitive filmmaking, with stories about people and places globally far outside of the industrial cinema complex epicenters.

The Louisburg Project is committing to tell a simple story form an authentic perspective, using affordable tech, with as few collaborators as possible, for as little capital as possible.

Cell phones, laptops and toy drones.

This year-long experiment will be on display leading up to the film’s completion on social media channels for your amusement.
